Welcome to Making Sense

Welcome to Making Sense with Sally Maslansky.  I am thrilled to meet you here as I share insights, reflections, and stories that have shaped my life and work. I am Sally Maslansky, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over twenty years of experience in private practice. My passion and curiosity for understanding the complexities of the human mind and the healing process has led me down a path that I’m eager to share with you.

My hope for this space is to be a blend of professional insights, personal reflections, and stories on the field of mental health, healing from trauma, and the therapeutic process. I’ll be drawing from my experiences as both a therapist and a patient – particularly my journey with Dr. Dan Siegel that culminated in my recovery from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

I’m also excited to introduce you to my upcoming memoir, A Brilliant Adaptation: How Dissociative Identity Disorder and the Power of the Therapeutic Bond Saved Me, which is scheduled to be released in January of 2026 by New Harbinger Publishing. This book is a deeply personal account of my work with Dr. Siegel and was inspired after he and I joined forces in a shared mission to demystify the process of healing from trauma. I’ll share behind-the-scenes insights from the book, discuss the themes I explore, and perhaps even offer sneak peeks of the content.

My hope here is to foster a community where we can engage in meaningful conversations about mental health, healing, and the power of storytelling. Whether you are a fellow therapist, someone on a healing journey, or simply curious about the mind, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates with you.

I welcome you to join me on this adventure. Please share your comments, thoughts, knowledge and ideas. While this is not a space for me to give therapeutic advice or guidance, I hope to develop a safe space for conversations, connection, learning and growth.

Thank you for being here!
